The Friends of McNabs Island Society, established in 1990, is a volunteer-run, non-profit, registered charity, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, dedicated to the preservation of McNabs and Lawlor Islands as parkland.
The Friends of McNabs Island Society promotes McNabs Island as a Natural Environment Park and ‘Outdoor Classroom’. The Friends provide visitor information, host beach cleanups, guided tours and specialevents. The Society maintains trails and manages the Teahouse Outdoor Education Centre which is open seasonally.
This special project entailed the development and design of a map / brochure which outlines visitor information, park regs, and stories. The map highlights various trails, amenities and points of interest. It features several categories that are specific to the island including: nature, settlement, recreation, military fortifications, lighthouses and the environment.
